Today’s dream is from an anonymous, yet wonderful woman. When I find such detailed dreams in my inbox, I am amazed and delighted.
She writes:
Have you ever had a dream that was so real it had you walking around in circles when you woke up? I’ve had dreams, scary, sad, funny, exciting, flying, magical, you name it, they are pretty vivid and movie like, but last night, or should I say this morning, I had a dream that kept revolving around a central character. A guy. I did not know him in waking life. He was just a normal guy, not someone I would typically be attracted to in waking life. He had dark hair and smoldering eyes that melted me wherever I was.
The Dream
I meet up with a woman at a restaurant, I don’t recall who she was but had a strong feeling she was famous and I was there to photograph her. This guy was to sit to her left and then I would be sitting to his left. I saw him from a distance and I got immediate butterflies. Throughout the dream, just looking at him would give me butterflies, to the point that even upon waking the sensation was still there. I wanted to talk to him so badly at the restaurant, but for whatever reason he wouldn’t sit down.
The scene moved from the restaurant to some weird horror film with zombies. A few others and myself were trying to get away from the zombies, and there was one of the zombies sitting in the car we needed to escape in. At the time, he had not fully turned into a zombie, so I convinced him to sit in the back seat with me, as there was a girl up front, driving. As we began to drive away the guy with us pulled the zombie out of the car, but at the last-minute the zombie bit my finger. His teeth were really sharp and it hurt, but I don’t recall crying out or bleeding, but remember his teeth were sharp and pointy like vampire teeth.
The next thing I know, we were in a beautiful mansion. Some of the people we knew, and others we did not. There were a ton of dogs there and friends of mine from the waking world. I ended up playing with their son, he remembered me and my friends were smiling, so happy that he was relating and interacting so well with me.
Their son moved, and the guy from the restaurant was standing next to the couch that I was sitting on and looking at me, watching me. There were wooden bars in between us (like the side of a crib or a baby safety gate) and I immediately had butterflies and moved closer to the side of the couch he was at to try to talk to him. The dogs all started barking and I jumped and got up to let them out. I took them outside and I remember the steps were the low long steps . I kept wondering when I would have a chance to talk to the guy from the restaurant and try to find out why the butterflies were happening.
A man and woman came outside with their dogs, and it got very crowded on the steps. That is when I saw my “butterfly man” just standing there. The owner of the mansion was also there with his dogs and he began to tell the guy from the restaurant how to repair the steps before closing the house up for the winter. I looked down at the steps to see the brick work or stone work the owner was talking about and when I looked back up, the guy from the restaurant was standing right next to me facing the opposite direction I was.
He was listening to the owner describe how he wanted it repaired, and just standing next to him was breathtaking. I could barely stand and it was like I was trying to talk to him with my mind and let him know what I was feeling, when he slid over slightly to be right in front of me and slowly leaned in and kissed me deeply. The butterflies in my stomach went crazy and all the people on the stairs stopped talking to wait for him to finish. The kiss was amazing, and when I went to speak, he smiled slyly letting me know he didn’t need to hear the words, he felt the amazing connection we shared.
I was so in to him. He was not someone I would typically be attracted to in waking life: Dark hair, normal build and height – my height, our lips just met up so easily and I melted whenever he was near.
Back at the house, I was looking for him. I went towards the kitchen and saw a little boy who looked just like him. I knelt and the boy kissed me like a child would kiss his mother, and although sweet, I was disappointed it was not my guy. As I stood up my guy was standing right there in front of me. He leaned in once more and my lips and heart melted into him – the butterflies took over and my desire to be with him exploded.
My alarm went off and I was up getting my daughter ready for school, but still feeling those the butterflies and recalling the dream like it was real or maybe from another lifetime. The feelings lasted a couple of days, and the memory of how he kissed me and how he made me feel. Wow, it was so real I felt guilty, as I am happily married to a wonderful man who I am attracted to (even 20 years later).
The Interpretation
Let me tell you: – your dreams portray much of self-love! I can tell by the symbols, dogs, children, kisses etc. That this aspect is what got you through your ordeal.
Its seems to me, your dream is playing out the events that were in your life at the time. Going through leaving your career of 15 yrs because of verbal abuse from your boss was a challenge. I see how these challenges play out in your dream, but most importantly, I suspect your dream, and “your butterfly man” were there to give you strength.
In your dreams, people, usually are a mirror of you. The different roles, male, female and even animals represent an aspect of yourself. For example, in this dream, I am convinced that the dogs represent: Loyalty and unconditional love. However, if you are a person who is afraid of dogs in waking life, this can have a completely different meaning. So this is why I do not refer to dream reference books or online sources alone. They are often misleading.
Dreams also usually have the 3 (Freudian) aspects of self. Id (child/desires/wishes) Ego (played by YOU in your dreams) and Superego (Morality/parental voice). That said.. You do have the inner-child (id) here, however, I am still trying to find the superego.. It can be represented by the stairs that were difficult to descend.. Keeping you from getting to where you want to go.. but not sure.
The dream begins you were with a famous woman (the successful career woman in you) to photograph her. I think here you were trying to *capture* who you were, BEFORE, everything fell apart. The woman who felt good about her job, the woman who felt independent and successful.
The guy!
Throughout the dream, this guy gives you butterflies, and shows up exactly when you need him. I have a feeling that yes, he is part of this dream, to give you love and support, yet he also may be a *twin flame or soul mate* who visits you to comfort you. (I have a few women clients who experience this).
I suspect the horror movie is a way for your subconscious to show you what you are going through – a very scary time. The zombies, represent a part of you which felt *dead inside.. walking around with no aim or direction. The fact that you were in a car, but not the driver, confirms that at the time of your dream, someone else felt in charge, not you; thus, you were going through the motions. The horror movie, could also represent a feeling of being overwhelmed and helpless.
Beautiful Mansion
According to dreammoods, and I agree with this one. The Mansion in your dream represents your greatest potential and growth. I see the events in your life at the time were scary, however, it was also opening up doors you probably felt you wanted to open way before the chaos started.
The dogs seem to represent that side of you who is loyal, capable of unconditional love. The friends (your allies and comfort) and the little boy (your inner child) all there to guide you through the difficult times. You with the boy equal how you would take care of yourself as you would take care of your own child.
The “barking dogs” seem to represent the anger you felt, and the warning signals which signal a call for help or a warning sign. They were barking to go out, you, in waking life, wanted OUT!
The long steps down the stairs, seem to represent the time it took to move from leaving your job with an abusive boss (set backs), to getting home and feeling peaceful. It got crowded (very challenging) and you couldn’t wait to see *your guy* again!! (get it) your guy is your support!
Also the steps needed repair… This could represent *progress* and could mean the calling you are searching for! The trip down must be cleared for you to walk your path.
Admiring the brick/stone wall, seems to represent your strength and foundation. You are strong and you admire that in yourself.
Closing for winter (the Mansion) .. this seems to mean, that break you need to find your calling.
So, all in all, your dream totally represent what you were going through, but in a very positive, self-loving way!!
Happy Dreaming!
