The dream arises from a part of the mind unknown to us, but none the less important, and is concerned with the desires for the approaching day. °~CARL JUNG
Today I am posting a dream from an online friend of mine who wishes to stay anon. This is a very personal dream, so I appreciate her letting me use it.
In this dream, the dreamer is in a very comfortable state, however, it doesn’t take long before reality shakes her up. Just like a pretty bubble bursting!
This dream is a very good example of how we must pay attention. Sometimes we know the truth in our waking life, but are not ready to face it. In this dream, my friend faces it with a vengeance.
The Dream
My boyfriend and I were laying on the futon in our living room at night and suddenly my older dog was barking outside. We heard noises out front and then my dog was in the house, as if she’d jumped in through the kitchen window (this is my dog that’s afraid of everything unless she’s outside). Then there were voices and the sound of keys, dog barking away (she doesn’t do that in the house), and the lock turning. My boyfriend went to get a weapon or something and the door opened and a woman was standing there and I yelled, “Who are you??” and she started to tell me she was with Kat (one of my ex-sister-in-laws that I haven’t thought of in years), and then Kat walked in. I was pissed off that Kat hadn’t called ahead and yelled at the woman and then Kat was mad at me for being mad at the woman and I tried to smooth things over. Kat and I were walking down the hallway to my bedroom and then suddenly my bedroom was a sort of hotel room at an airport.
My son was there and we were grabbing a few things to take on the plane and leaving the rest to come back to after the trip. I put a Tupperware container of pot in my purse (um??) and my son said something about getting caught and I said I’d brought it with me in my purse. Then I remembered that it had been in my suitcase, so I put my purse down and picked up a small box (that my boyfriend gave me this Xmas) and we walked through the airport (was almost like a mall), escorted by a guard or something. I opened the box and saw that among the things in it, there was a pair of embroidery scissors (the ones that look like a bird) and I said that I couldn’t take them on the plane and that they had been my grandmother’s (if she had a pair, I never saw them) and my son and I turned around to go back to the room. We couldn’t find it and I looked for someone to ask directions from and in the middle of the concourse were tables with people selling stuff; a woman called me over and she was a reader of some sort. She had a message for me (which I can NOT remember, dammit) and then she gave me directions to the rooms. We went there but couldn’t remember which was ours and when I pulled the key out of my pocket, there were about 4 or 5 and all the rooms they were for were occupied. A clerk was helping us at the end and I kept asking where our stuff was, where was our stuff??
The Interpretation
In the beginning of the dream, it seems to me that you are comfy and cosy with your boyfriend.. however, it does not take long for “something” to pop up to burst your bubble. Your dog, which represents loyalty and protection, alarms you that something or someone is at the door. Your dog represents that part of you which is brave and courageous.. because although he, in life, doesn’t seem so, in this dream he is. You have this potential, very often, to be brave even though you may doubt this at times.
Your bf (which I think represents the male side of you) is also the protector getting out a weapon to protect you from harm. The dog and your BF represent: strength, fearlessness and protection.. 3 traits which live in you.. and I feel need to be born again.
During our conversation, you describe Kat as: young, sweet, funny with an angry streak. I believe Kat is that side of you who possesses these qualities. Also, since she is only an acquaintance in your life, I think you may need to reconnect and accept these traits in you. Do you think you are sweet and funny? Do you also have an angry streak which you may be repressing?
What is happening in your life now where you feel your “comfort zone” is being busted? Not just once and awhile but OFTEN! I feel this is happening now. In your dream, you are pissed off at Kat for not calling you first.. you feel there is an invasion of your privacy.. or there is something you wish to hide from others.. This theme continues, as you will notice in the rest of your dream.
Message: If I am mad, people (even those I do not like) are going to be mad at me.. and not like me.. and I don’t like that feeling. “peacekeeper at all costs”.
What are you not saying?
In the dream, it makes sense you end up in neutral territory a Hotel Room. Your room would be too personal. Rooms usually represent a part of our spirit which needs to be explored or decluttered or EXPOSED.. to yourself.. first. Here you are back at the source… the source of all things…
Airport meaning: Getting ready to go on plane may signify a time of new direction. I think once you figure out what is the source of your anger and fear, your life will begin going into a new direction. I feel this has started for you already as the dream suggests. It’s just you must gather up the courage necessary to move on, yet set free what holds you back.
Which brings me to the box and Tupperware.
- Tupperware: Freshness, to keep contained. But holds something that may be dangerous.. maybe a secret no one should find out?
- Box (given by boyfriend) again container for feelings of? Preserve something?
yet fearing people will find out?
I feel there is a secret deep inside that you are hiding from yourself or others? This may be the KEY (there are keys in your dream right?) to your expansion. You need to unleash this secret or mask you are wearing and tell the truth to yourself about a situation in your life. The truth is the KEY which will set you free.
Before I forget, your son is in this dream with you. Know that your son represents all that is pure – the inner child. Sometimes the inner child wants to be selfish, however, I see your inner child is with you all the way helping you out when needed. Tap into this child in your waking life.. you need this!! Children are brave, daring and creative, and can take risks more easily…
The scissors represent something you need to CUT OUT of your life, which is cluttering you and your soul. This relates to what is in the Tupperware and box.
The woman (reader) is a spirit guide. She is trying to tell you something, and you know it.. Meditate on what she is trying to tell you.. and pay real good attention to this dream interpretation. Ask her what you need to know. What you need to take from this…
You have the key (or many keys) to this equation… you just need to find which part of you it fits!
Left with WHERE IS OUR STUFF?
LOST.. the stuff.. seems to be what is holding you back.. you need to get rid of the stuff in order to move on.. this stuff is creating anxiety in you..

What the dreamer had to say after the interpretation:
I sent Kim a bizarre dream I had, and from the weirdness she pieced together an interpretation that I actually had to sit with for a few days simply because it struck such a chord within me and led me to face things I didn’t want to in my life. Without this interpretation, I would have gone on blithely, rose-colored glasses firmly in place…and my life would be the lesser for it. How she does what she does is beyond my ken, but let me tell you; she is phenomenal at it!
