Dreams are illustrations… from the book your soul is writing about you. ~Marsha Norman
Often, when new opportunities enter our lives, uncertainties may want to take over. When faced with exciting adventures, our minds may lean towards worry, excitement, then worry again when working out the details. In this dream, the dreamer’s psyc seems to be trying to help her sort out feelings she has towards embarking on this new venture. Take a close look as you read, how the symbols work together to help her, while she sleeps, make way for new possibilities.
Last night I dreamed that we bought a new house. It was really cool but was in a neighborhood I wasn’t certain of. At first the house was just two floors but then it expanded and I discovered another floor and another set of bedrooms. The walls were all white and I kept thinking we’d have to paint with lots of interesting colors.
As I explored the house I kept feeling both happy and scared. I loved it, but I was worried the neighbors would be noisy and unruly and the schools would be bad for the girls. Anyway, as the dream contintued the house just kept getting bigger. By the end it was so big, I had to drive from one room to the other. At that point I was worried about the price of gas and how expensive it was going to be to stay in this house….and still how I needed to paint it!
It seems you are entering a new phase in your life, and this house represents a whole part of you, or this new phase. This “phase” is a cool one! You are very excited to start this new “venture” however, what surrounds it or what it entails may seem overwhelming to you or maybe even scary. The white walls and the urge to paint is creativity. You are starting on a “blank slate” or a fresh piece of paper. The excitement part is creating something new and fresh.
Like I said, exploring is the “new adventure” yet its scary.. Which I think is quite normal. The unruly neighbours? I wonder. Are you thinking that this new venture may take a lot of your time.. And time away from the girls? Or maybe the girls represent a part of you (inner child) and this “phase” may take time away for you to play and be happy.
The Expansion: I took a piece of paper and drew a house. Around the house, I drew the neighbourhood and put a huge circle around it to give me perspective. Then I thought.. The more the house EXPANDS, the more it covers up the neighbourhood.. (The part you are scared of) by the time the house is finished expanding, new fears arise i.e.: having to drive the car around, using up more gas, more expense.. So really, expanding is not creating a sense of security.
So.. I am thinking. You must work around your worries with this new phase.. No use creating a bubble to feel safe right?
Alright Kim, I just said to my husband after reading your interpretation “This girl is good!” This seems to fit. I may have some new doors opening which I’ll share when the time is right! And I do worry how it will affect my time and energy with the girls-which I felt the worry about bad schools signified.
I will keep you posted about this dreamer. I am anxious to discover the rest of her story.
